POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012-2013 IN THE HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND MEDICINE, AT THE SIDNEY M. EDELSTEIN CENTER, AT THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM, ISRAEL

The Sidney M. Edelstein Center for the History and Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Medicine at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships in the history and philosophy of science, technology and medicine for the academic year 2012-2013. 

Students with a Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in the History, Philosophy or Sociology of Science, as well as in the Physical or Life Sciences, are invited to apply for the above post-doctoral fellowships. Applications should include a research proposal, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and the abstract and sample chapter from the doctoral dissertation and/or a recent publication. All applications must be supported with three letters of recommendation, sent directly to the offices of the Edelstein Center. Candidates who have common research interests with any members(s) of the Edelstein Center and might wish to work with them during their post-doctoral tenure should draw attention to this in the proposal; it may be relevant for the evaluation of their application.

Fellows are expected to take part in the activities of the Center throughout their fellowship period, and in particular to participate in discussion groups and research groups in relevant fields.

Relevant collections in Jerusalem include: The Edelstein Collections (Chemistry, Alchemy, Dyeing, and Nutrition), the Albert Einstein Archives, the Yahuda Theological Collection of Isaac Newton, and the Friedenwald Collection (History of Medicine). The facilities of three major libraries are also available, including the rich collections of rare books and manuscripts held by the Israel National Library.
