Senior Visiting Fellowship in Neurophilosophy (Bochum, 3-6 months)

We are pleased to announce an international call for fellowships for the academic year September 2011 to July 2012 aimed at outstanding researchers. We are flexible concerning the exact visiting period.

The fellow will be affiliated with the following units at the Ruhr University Bochum: The Chair of Philosophy of Language and Cognition at the Department of Philosophy II, The Mercator Research Group "Structures of Memory", The Center for Mind, Brain and Cognitive Evolution.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and are expected to work at least on the level of an associate or advanced assistant professor. They must have an outstanding publication record in the area of philosophy of mind and language and/or epistemology with a strong connection to the cognitive and neuro-sciences. Some familiarity with EEG methods is desirable.

The successful applicant will be expected to take part in designing (and eventually conducting) a cooperative EEG study on a research question of relevance for the philosophy of mind and language and/or epistemology. For this purpose (s)he will be given access to a 64-channel high-end EEG system and supported by local research staff. The research proposal should outline the neuro-philosophical dimension of the project and explain how his/her philosophical inquiries could be advanced with EEG methods.
