The Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science: Post-Doctoral Research Officer


Salary: £32,148 p/a
Fixed term for three years from March 2013


The Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science is seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Officer to contribute to the AHRC funded Research Project Managing Severe Uncertainty. The Research Officer will be expected to carry out supervised research within the remit of the project, with a focus on the nature and implications of scientific uncertainty and/or decision making under uncertainty, especially with regard to climate science and policy. 

Candidates should have a PhD in Philosophy or other relevant discipline (e.g. decision theory or climate science) and have a strong analytical background, excellent research skills and organisational ability. Knowledge of climate science and/or climate policy decision making is desirable, and willingness to acquire such knowledge essential. Knowledge of other scientific and policy domains relevant to the study of uncertainty would also be useful. 

The appointee will join a team consisting of Richard Bradley, Roman Frigg, Katie Steele, Alex Voorhoeve, and Charlotte Werndl.
