Assistant Professorship in Philosophy amd Assistant Professorship/Lecturership in Philosophy at the University of Tübingen


The Department of Philosophy at the University of Tübingen is seeking applications for two positions. Position 1: "Assistant Professorship in Philosophy” (Akademische Ratsstelle auf Zeit, pay grade A 13). The position will start on October 1st, 2012, and is for a period of three years with the possibility of extension. Position 2: "Assistant Professorship / Lecturership in Philosophy” (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, pay grade TV-L 13). The position will start on October 1st, 2012, and is for a period of two years.

The successful candidates will be expected (1) to do philosophical research in one or more of the following areas of philosophy: Kant, German Idealism, 19th and 20th Century Continental Philosophy, Kantian and Phenomenological Themes in Analytic Philosophy, Aesthetics and Philosophy of Perception, (2) to teach four hours a week (two courses), and (3) to assist in administrative duties such as the planning and organization of workshops and conferences.

The requirements are a PhD in philosophy and a research focus as well as teaching experience in the mentioned areas. Given equal qualification, severely physically challenged individuals will be given preference.
