The Faculties of Science and Technology and Arts and Social Sciences are making an investment in two major cross disciplinary research areas: Energy Lancaster and Security Lancaster. The investment will fund up to six faculty fellowships, up to five within Science and Technology, and one within Arts and Social Sciences. Reflecting the interdisciplinary orientation of the research areas, Fellows will belong to both to a research centre and a department within a faculty. The Faculty Fellowships are for 4 years and it is intended that they will equip an early career researcher to develop a strong interdisciplinary research programme and skills in university teaching, to become a lecturer at Lancaster. The posts will be indefinite, subject to satisfactory performance, which will be assessed during the fourth year. For Energy Lancaster applications are welcomed from candidates who can form links with one of the following departments: Lancaster Environment Centre (both natural science and social science approaches to energy), Engineering, Computing and Communications, Physics. For Security Lancaster applications are welcomed from candidates who can form links with one of the following departments: Psychology, Computing and Communications, Politics (including International Relations) Philosophy and Religion (PPR). As part of your application you should provide a brief research summary (500 words) and a 3 page CV and indicate your area of expertise, research plan and how this plan would be linked to a particular department(s) within one of the two thematic areas. Fellowships are available to start on either 1 October 2012 or 1 January 2013.
