Conference: Paradox and Logical Revision

Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP), LMU, Munich

Monday 23rd to Wednesday 25th July, 2012

The conference's topic is paradox and logical revision. Do the semantic and set-theoretic paradoxes provide a good reason for abandoning some of the commonly accepted rules of logic? What does it mean to revise logic? How should logic be revised? For instance, should revisionary approaches to paradox be substructural? Are revisionary approaches to paradox beset by revenge problems?

We invite submissions for 35-40-minute presentations (with 25-20 additional minutes for discussion). Submissions should take the form of either a 1500 word abstract or a full paper of no more than 5000 words, with a 150-200 word abstract. Contact details - authors’ names, postal address, affiliation, phone number and e-mail address - should be given separately. Submissions should be sent by e-mail in an attached file in .pdf, .ps or.rtf format to logicalrevision@gmail.comSubmitted papers will be blind refereed.

Invited speakers:

Michael Glanzberg (Northwestern University)
Graham Priest (University of Melbourne, University of St Andrews, CUNY)
Greg Restall (University of Melbourne)
David Ripley (University of Melbourne)
Keith Simmons (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)
Zach Weber (University of Melbourne)
