PGT scholarships and Open Day at Birmingham,





The Philosophy Department at the University of Birmingham offers the following taught postgraduate degrees (the linked pages contain further information and links to the online application process):


The College of Arts and Law to which our department belogs offers a number of Masters-level scholarships for the students of these programmes. The deadline for the scholarship applications is on the 26th of April 2012. In order to be eligible, you must also have submitted an application to study at the University before that date.

The University of Birmingham is also organising an Open Day for all students interested in our PG programmes. This PG Open Day will be on Tuesday the 7th of February. You can find more information about this event from HERE. A number of members of our staff and some of our PG students will be available on that day at the Great Hall in the Ashton Webb Building from 11 to 2 and you can also meet them at our department after that.  
The Department of Philosophy at Birmingham has eleven permanent members of staff with research interests in a range of areas in analytic philosophy. We can offer expertise in metaphysics and epistemology; philosophy of language, mind and action; ethics, ethical theory and global ethics.  In addition, the Department has research interests in the history of philosophy (Hobbes, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Schopenhauer, Wittgenstein), philosophy of religion, and philosophy of science. The latest Research Assessment Exercise ranked 85% of our research output, for which all staff were submitted, as being 'world class', 'internationally excellent', or 'internationally recognised'.
