"Argumentation from expert opinion"

In this talk, Wagemans will present a tool for the reconstruction and
evaluation of argumentation from expert opinion. First, he will analyze
Walton?s account of the "appeal to expert opinion" and the
pragma-dialectical account of "argumentation from authority". Then, he will
show how these two dialectical accounts can be combined into a
comprehensive tool for the assessment of argumentation from expert opinion.
Finally, he will elaborate on the question as to how the presented
combination of the two accounts may function as a model for the development
of a dialectical "catalogue of arguments".
