Final double lectures:
Jan 13, 2012;  9.00-12.00 a.m. : Using Files: From Referential Communication to Mindreading 

During these lectures Francois Recanati presents his latest book which is in the stage of final polishment. On the 13th of January, one of the two lecture includes the discussion of propositional attitudes in terms of mental files. Listening to the final lectures can be also done independently from the other two days. 

At each day, we will have two lectures from F. Recanati and time for discussion.

Francois Recanati is a Research Director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, Paris) and Director at the Institut Jean Nicod (Paris). He has published many papers and several books on the philosophy of language and mind, including Meaning and Force (Cambridge, 1987), Direct Reference (Blackwell, 1993), Oratio Obliqua, Oratio Recta (MIT Press, 2000), Literal Meaning (2004), Perspectival Thought (Oxford 2007) and Truth-conditional pragmatics (Oxford, 2010). He is also co-founder and past President of the European Society for Analytic Philosophy. The final day can be visited independently  (there are no fees) before 16th Nov 2011.: sekretariat-newen@rub.de
